What is the conversion on acres and hectares?
- One Hectare equals 2.471 acres
How much does it cost to fly to Argentina?
- Cost will vary from time of year and origin but you can get a round trip ticket out of
Miami or Dallas around $1000 / per person. Your final destination will vary
depending on routing. If you fly into Buenos Aires you can then fly direct into San
Rafael after a short commute across town to a different airport and a stay over. If
you fly into Santiago Chile you can connect the same day and fly into Mendoza
Argentina which is about a 2.5 hours drive from San Rafael.
Do you have to be incorporated to buy a farm in Argentina
and who can buy property / live in Argentina?
- You do not have to be incorporated, you can purchase property in Argentina as an
individual.
- Anyone can visit Argentina and can easily obtain residency in Argentina:
The Argentina Constitution make provisions for any person regardless of age, sex,
color, religion or country of origin to obtain residency in Argentina as long as the
following conditions are met: must not have a criminal record, cannot have a
communicable disease and must purchase property or livestock with a cumulative
value of 100,000 pesos which is approx. 33,000 US Dollars. Easiest way to do this
is to visit as a tourist and then apply while in country providing you meet the
conditions above. Please consult the Argentine Embassy with any questions you
may have for your specific situation as the above is a generalization and only
provided as a guideline.
How hard is it to communicate/purchase property if I do not
speak Spanish?
- The locals are happy to have you visit their country and will try very hard to
communicate with you, more than you would expect! Purchasing properties will not
be a problem since we do have a reps in Argentina that speaks French, German
and English and can assist you once you arrive.
Why are the farms so inexpensive?
- The U.S. Dollar is very strong in Argentina unlike other parts of the world.
Average conversion over the last year has been 3.10 pesos to the U.S. Dollar.
- The Euro is even stronger, the Euro is currently 1.50 dollars to the Euro.
How do I know which is a good farm with good soil and
production?
- That is where we come in, we will not sell just any property as others might. We
pre-qualify the property to ensure good soil, plenty of irrigation rights, healthy
plants, and properly maintained.
- Expected production will be listed on all properties for sale and will include income
projection based on history and current prices for fruit.
- As the buyer you have the right to have the farm independently inspected and
should use due diligence.
What guarantees do I have as a buyer?
- As with any property purchase and particularly farms, some risks do exist. We
make every effort to minimize these risks with the pre-qualification process above,
Agricultural Engineer reports, Soil Analysis, attempt to receive a documented history
of the sale of the crop, etc. Many of the sellers do not "report" the sale of the crop
and thereby do not have verifiable receipts, in these cases we accept the owners
estimates but only if they are reasonably attainable using a simple formula, example:
XXX Acres of YYY Grapes in ZZZ Condition should produce: XYZ kilos.
Take XYZ kilos multiplied by current market price and if this figure is close to the
figure from the owners then we use it.

How accurate are
the crop
production figures?
Figures are provided by
the existing owners, every
effort is made to confirm
the figures when receipts
are available. Figures that
are unattainable with
current plantings are not
used. "Potential Income"
is based on size of planted
acreage, type of fruit,
condition of plants and
current or average market
value.
Can the figures
vary substantially?
Yes, many factors can
affect the figures such as
hail damage, weather,
market demand, etc but
expected income should
be pretty close in most
cases except for when hail
has hit your farm.
Protection is available but
is very expensive.
What is the trend
of property values?
Property values have
increased substantially
over the last couple of
years and it appears this
trend will continue for a
long time coming with so
many new investors in the
area and the growing
popularity of Argentine
wines worldwide.
